KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Fluency with an electrical CAD software package, such as Altium (Protel)
- Basic electrical design skills on digital, analog, and power circuits
- Working knowledge of embedded controls with micro-processors
- Working knowledge of motors, motor drivers and motion control
- Knowledge of real-time control software
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills are required
- Working knowledge of medical devices and FDA regulations required
- Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies including medical, technical, manufacturing, and materials developments as related to company products.
- Able to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and flexibility to work on different projects as assigned
- Ability to learn and expand knowledge in a collaborative environment within and outside the department
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS - LEVEL 4
Professional Level: Consultant to middle and top management
Advancing Technology: Identifies and initiates technical programs which will result in innovative applications or extensions to existing or new products, processes or technologies. Prepares, publishes, and presents research studies to internal and external audiences.
Problem Complexity: Analyzes and solves unusually complex problems which require sophisticated analysis or research techniques.
Knowledge - Technical: Possesses extensive expertise as a generalist or specialist in engineering discipline and contributes directly to the development of new concepts, processes, and techniques.
Knowledge - Business: Understands business environment and relates extensive knowledge of internal and external technological activities to trends.
Leadership: Interfaces with senior management on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units. Participates in the development of other technical contributors by facilitating training and providing feedback and guidance. May lead a project team. Provides technical leadership to departments.
Decision-Making Impact: Selects research and design methods and techniques to lead a project to completion. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in failure to achieve critical organizational objectives and the expenditure of large amounts of company resources. Effects would be long lasting and heavily influence the future course of the organization.
Communication: Interacts with senior internal, external or customer representatives on significant technical matters, often requiring coordinating activity across organizational lines.
Supervision: Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives of and approaches to assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long time perspective, for desired results.
Education / Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering & 8-12 YOE OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering & 4-6 YOE OR PhD in Electrical Engineering & 2- 3 YOE
